Another Fly out from Free Style Music Park

Just after 10:00 Medic 30 was dispatched to the Free Style Music Park for a possible electrocution. Battalion 1 requested Engine 4 be added to the assignment. While en route dispatch advised the subject possibly came into contact with 12000 volts. EMS 1 placed LifeCare on stand by. Engine 4 arrived on location and evaluated the patient and called for LifeCare to the scene. Engine 4 set up a landing zone in the parking lot while Medic 30 and Park EMT's readied the patient for transport. This was the 2nd fly out for Engine 4 A shift in a week from the Free Style Music Park.

Ladder 4 and Engine Company 4 Run 1st Due Structure Fire

At 21:07hrs, units were alerted of a possible structure fire on Oakmont Dr. Engine 4 and Ladder 4 responded with 9 volunteers due to no career personnel because of a dive call they were responding to. While en route, dispatch advised that the report was the house was filled with smoke. Ladder 4 arrived on scene of a single-family residential structure with nothing showing. Engine 4 arrived and established a water supply laying out 300’ of 5”. Ladder 4 officer transferred command to Engine 4 officer. Ladder 4 crew investigated with the thermal imaging camera, while the ladder 4 driver threw 40’ of ground ladders and extended the aerial to the roof. Engine 4 crew pulled an 1 ¾ hand-line, while Ladder 4 driver put a positive pressure fan at the front door. Battalion 2 arrived and command was transferred. Upon investigation, there was a light haze in the house caused by a malfunction in an electronic appliance. Units were placed in service. Battalion 2 had Oakmont command.

Ladder 4 and Engine 4 Run Fire in 39 Box

Just after 08:00, units were alerted of a structure fire on Weyburn Street in the Carolina Forest district. While en route, dispatched advised it was a stove fire and the occupant was getting everyone out of the house. Engine 39 arrived on scene of a single story residential structure with nothing showing. Engine 39 established their own water supply laying out 400 feet. Engine 4 and Ladder 4 arrived and plugged the hydrant. Upon investigation, there was a small fire contained to the stove. The fire was controlled and Engine 39 officer requested all units be placed in service. Engine 39 officer had Weyburn Command.

Ladder 4 Runs Mutual Aid Commerical Fire in Myrtle Beach

During the early morning hours, Myrtle Beach Fire was dispatched to a possible structure fire on Piedmont Avenue. Upon arrival, Myrtle Beach Fire resported a warehouse well off. About an hour into the call, Piedmont Command requested Horry County for assistance with overhaul. Ladder 4 and Engine 1 responded. The units performed a very extensive salvage and overhaul operation. Units were on scene for about 5 hours.

Engine Company 4 and Ladder 4 Run Fire in Holmestown District

At around 21:45 hours, units were dispatched to a possible structure fire on Avondale Dr. in Victoria Station. Battalion 3 arrived on scene of a two-story residential structure with fire showing from the chimnmey and possibly extending into the attic. Engine 1 and Rescue 1 arrived and deployed 1 attack line to the exterior and 1 attack line to the attic. Engine 4 arrived and cut 2x2 hole in the wooden box frame around the chimmney while Rescue 1 vented the roof around the chimmney. Ladder 4 arrived and extended the aerial to the roof. Fire extension to the attic proved negative. Units were on scene for about an hour. Battalion 3 had Avondale Command.

Engine 4 First in on Vehicle Accident with Ejection in 39 Box.

At 20:00hrs, units were alerted of a vehicle accident with possible ejection on Legends Road just off Hwy 501. Engine 4 arrived on scene of one vehicle on its side that appeared to have rolled numerous times. One subject had been ejected through the sunroof and was pinned by the metal frame that holds the bumper. Carolina Lifecare helicopter was requested to launch. Medic 45 arrived and pronounced the subject. Lifecare 1 was cancelled. Engine 4 officer had Legends Command.

Units On Scene: Engine 4, Engine 39, Ladder 39, Rescue 1, Medic 45, Battalion 2, and EMS 1.

Busy shift for station 4, Two working fires

Station 4 started the shift off with a multi-company drill in the 1 box at 09:30 working together with Stations 1 and 20. Crew spent the first half of the day laying lines and working with the humat valve. Just after 1230 the box was struck for a reported structure fire on Peach Tree Rd in the 1 box. Engines 4, and 20, along with Ladder 4,Rescue 1 and Battalion Chief 2 responded. BC2 went on the scene with a 1000 sq ft storage shed well off. Crews made a quick knock on the fire and were on scene less than an hour. Battalion 2(Blackburn) had the Command.

As crews went back to the drill site to pick up the rest of the hose off Engine 20, the box was struck again, this time in the 23 box for another structure fire. Engine 4 responded along Engine 23, Ladder 39, and Conway Fire. Battalion Chief 3 went on location of a shed on fire in the rear of a structure with multiple exposures. E23 arrived and layed a supply line and started an aggressive attack. L534 arrived along with Engine 4. L534 was assigned to assist E23 in fire suppression. Engine 4 was reassigned to the exposures off in the adjacent neighborhood. Engine 4's crew gained access to the 2 sheds in the Castle Wood subdivision. Engine 4's crew forced entry into the shed and started an aggressive salvage operation. Damage was limited to the exposures. Ladder 39 arrived and assisted units in picking up. Battalion 3 (Gibbins) had the command.

Ladder 4 runs single wide fire in the 23 Box

Jan 6- 2100hrs- Units from Hcfr 23,4,39 and Conway Fire were alerted for a reported house on fire on Camelia Ln in the Gale Acres Mobile Home Park.  University 3 arrived and reprted heavy smoke showing from a single wide MH.  E23 and CFD Ladder 534 crews made an interior attack but backed out due to fire conditions under the home and a hole in the floor.  L39’s crew opened up the house and crews got  a knock on the fire prior to entering to complete searches and overhaul.  The fire is under investigation.  BC McGarrahan had the Command.

Engine Company 4 and Ladder 4 Run Fire in the 1st Due.

At 16:23, units were alerted of a structure fire on Fountain Pointe Lane. Station 4 responded with 10 personnel. Engine 4 arrived on scene of a 3-story multifamily residential structure with nothing showing. Engine 4 established its own water supply and Ladder 4 positioned on the A-B corner of the building. Upon investigation, a grease fire had occurred, but was extinguished by the sprinkler system. Fountain Pointe Command advised dispatch they could hold with 1 Ladder and 2 engines. Units started aggressive salvage and overhaul operation. Units were on scene for one hour. Engine 4 officer had Fountain Point command.

A quote from the neighbor who reported the fire, "You guys got here so fast, it must have been close to two minutes,I didn't expect for you to get here that soon".

Engine 4 and Ladder 4 Start the New Year with 2-Alarm Fire in 20 Box.

At 20:40, units were alerted of a structure fire on Shore Lane. Engine 1 arrived on scene of a single story residential structure with flames on the rear of the structure. Upon further investigation, crews found fire running the attic space and due to manpower issues, Engine 1 officer requested a 2nd alarm. Engine 1 established a water supply with a split lay finished by Surfside Fire. Ladder 4 and Engine 4 responded with 9 personnel. Engine 1 crew, with the assistance of Medic 31, pulled an 1 ¾ hand line and a 2 ½ hand line and made an interior attack. Ladder 4 arrived and assumed the 2 ½ attack line and began to get a good knock on the fire. Engine 4 arrived and pulled a second 1 ¾ line and began fire attack and overhaul on Division B and Division C. An extensive salvage & overhaul operation was performed by units from Station 1 and Station 4. Units were on scene for about 3 hours. Battalion 2 had Shore Lane command.

Engine Company 4 and Ladder 4 Respond to Structure Fire in Socastee

At 17:20, units were alerted of a structure fire on Enterprise Road. Ladder 4 and Engine 4 responded with 7 personnel. Battalion 3 arrived on scene of a single story mobile home with one room off. Engine 1 arrived and did a split lay. Rescue 1 crew provided a primary search and Engine 1 crew pulled an 1 ¾ handline and made a good knock on the fire. Ladder 4 arrived and provided a secondary search and assisted in overhaul. Engine 4 was placed in service on arrival due to the quick control of the fire. Units were on scene for about and hour. Engine 4 remained in the Socastee Community staffed with 3 covering the "super District" Battalion 3 had Enterprise command.

Ladder 4 First in on 39 Box Vehicle Accident with Entrapment

At around 21:20, units were alerted of a vehicle accident with entrapment near the intersection of Waccamaw Pines Dr. and Hwy 501. Ladder 4 and Engine 4 responded. Ladder 4 arrived on scene of one vehicle overturned, under water in the ditch in front of Chick-Fil-A on Hwy 501. Ladder 4 officer confirmed two patients trapped and called for Carolina Lifecare to launch and land on scene. Ladder 39 arrived and assisted Ladder 4 in extricating the two trapped. Engine 4 arrived and assisted in setting up the extrication tools and setting up the LZ. Three patients were transported to a local ER, two in critical condition. Forestbrookfire would like to thank the Chick-Fil-A crew for taking care of their local firefighters by providing food and drinks while units were waiting for Highway Patrol to complete their investigation. Ladder 39 officer had Hwy 501 command.

Engine Company and Ladder 4 Respond to a Two Alarm Fire in the 1 Box.

At 08:50, units were alerted of a structure fire off of 17 Bypass on Leaf Terrace Rd. Ladder 4 and Engine 4 responded. While en route, dispatched advised the caller reported two structures with heavy fire showing as well as one vehicle involved. Battalion 1 advised dispatch to strike the 2nd alarm due to the report. Myrtle Beach Fire arrived on scene of a single wide mobile home fully involved with two exposures. Engine 1 arrived and laid all 1,000’ of 5 inch supply. Ladder 4 arrived and laid 700’ of 5 inch supply finishing Engine 1’s lay. Ladder 4 supplied Truck 644. Attack lines were pulled by Engine 1’s crew from Truck 644 for an exterior attack. Battalion 3 arrived and had command of division Charlie. Rescue 1 performed a search and reported all clear. Engine 20, Engine 4, and Ladder 4 performed extensive overhaul. Myrtle Beach Battalion Chief had Leaf Terrace Command.

Forestbrookfire would like to congratulate former District 1 career members Battalion Chief Justin Gibbins and Captain Tom Loeper on their recent promotions. Chief Gibbins was a captain at station 39 and was recently promoted to Battalion Chief of Special Operations. Captain Loeper was a lieutenant at station 39 and was recently promoted to Captain. Good luck to both men.

Ladder 4 2nd due Truck Company to Commercial fire in the 40 box.

At 20:39 units in the first Battalion were alerted for a commercial structure on HWY 19 at Jerry’s Cycles in the Hickory Grove section of Horry County. Engine 40 arrived on scene with a working fire. Conway Fire arrived with one engine and one ladder and assisted Engine 40 in fire suppression. Battalion Chief 1 and Battalion 22 arrived on location and requested a 2nd alarm approximately 45 minutes into the fire bringing 3 more Engines and Ladder 4 as the 2nd due Truck Company. Ladder 4 responded nearly 20 miles to the fire. Ladder 4 arrived and was requested to the roof to open up and check for extension. Units operated on scene for close to 3 hours to bring the fire under control.

Engine 4 special called for water supply assignment in the 45 Box.

At 02:00 Station 45 was dispatched to a possible brush fire on HWY 31. Communications began receiving multiple calls reporting a structure fire in the Berkshire Neighborhood. The assignment was upgraded to a structure fire adding Stations 7,39,1,4 and Myrtle Beach Fire. Carolina Bays 12 went on scene with a single family structure under construction well involved partially on the ground and established Berkshire Command. Command advised they could handle with Ladder 39 and two engines. The remainder of the assignment was canceled. Engine 45 arrived and made the connection to the hydrant only to find out they were all turned off due to construction. Command requested a water supply assignment which added Engine 4 back on the call and Tanker 40. Engine 4, Engine 45, and Engine 7 hauled water for approximately 2 hours until the fire was brought under control.

Engine Company and Ladder 4 Run Commercial Vehicle Fire in the 39 Box

Just after 16:00 units were alerted of a commercial vehicle fire in the Canterbury sub-divison "deep" in the 39 box. Ladder 4 and Engine 4 responded with 8 personnel, including 6 volunteers. Ladder 39 arrived on scene and found an abandoned 18 wheeler trailer deep in the woods with flames showing and established a water supply. Ladder 4 and Engine 4 arrived, and assisted in pulling 600' of 2 1/2 hose and a high-rise pack to the trailer for fire attack. Both crews assisted in fire attack and overhaul. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes. Between Forestbrook and Carolina Forest, 13 HCFR volunteers provided manpower at the scene. Ladder 39 officer had Canterbury Command.

Ladder 4 Responds to Vehicle Accident w/ Entrapment in the 1 Box

At around 02:00, Ladder 4 was alerted of a vehicle accident with entrapment on Hwy 707 near Recreation Dr. While en route, dispatch advised that the Station 1 units were already on scene and Battalion 22 had requested the Ladder. The vehicle had struck an electrical pole and the wires had fallen covering the scene. The units waited for Santee Cooper to arrive to secure power, so that the extrication may begin. Once the power was secured, the Station 1 units began extricating the patient. Ladder 4 arrived and assisted in scene lighting, hose-line for crew protection, and set up a second set of extrication tools as a back-up. The patient was extricated from the vehicle by the crew from Station 1 and was transported to a local ER. Battalion 22 had Hwy 707 command.

5th working fire of November for Ladder 4

At 04:02 the box was struck for a structure in the 1-05 box on HWY 814. E1 arrived on location with a fully involved single wide. E23 secured a water supply. Ladder 4 arrived on location and assisted in fire suppression. The fire was marked under control in 30 minutes. Engine 1 Officer had the HWY 814 Command.

Ladder 4 Responds to Double Fatal Structure Fire in Socastee

Just before 06:00, units were alerted of a structure fire on Great Lakes Circle in the Azalea Lakes Sub-division. While en route, dispatch advised the initial caller stated there were flames showing and there was possible entrapment. Station 1 units arrived on the scene of a single story residential structure with flames through the roof and requested for a second alarm. Engine 1 established the water supply and put and 1 ¾ attack line in service. Rescue 1 performed a primary search and found one victim. Ladder 4 arrived and assisted with removing patient from the residence. That patient was transported to a local ER in cardiac arrest. Ladder 4 crew then pulled a second 1 ¾ hand-line off Engine 1 and began an attack through the garage. Another crew pulled a 2 ½ hand-line and placed it in service in the rear of the structure. Units eventually got a good knock on the fire and placed it under control within thirty minutes of arrival. During an extensive overhaul operation, another victim was found and was declared at the scene. Great job by the units on scene who worked aggressively and efficiently. F17 had Great Lakes command.

Ladder 4 catches first due fire.

Just before 02:00 the tones were dropped for a reported structure fire in the 4 box on Shipyard Walk. Dispatch advised units responding that a burglary was in progress, and the suspect knocked over a oil lamp on his way out, starting a small fire in the rear of the structure. Ladder 4 responded fully staffed, and arrived on scene with light smoke showing, from a smoldering fire in the rear of the structure. Ladder 4's crew quickly controlled the fire with a water can. The rest of the assignment was cancelled. Ladder 4's crew conducted overhaul. Ladder 4 operated on scene for 40 minutes.

Forestbrook Units Respond to Working Structure Fire in 45 Box

At around 21:00, units were alerted for a structure fire on Masters Court off of 17 Bypass. Ladder 4 and Engine 4 responded with 10 personnel. While en route, dispatched advised that the caller stated flames showing. Myrtle Beach Fire arrived on scene of a two-story multifamily dwelling with nothing showing and advised to have all units stage... Ladder 4 and Engine 4 arrived and staged on 38th Ave. While staging, Myrtle Beach units that were arriving appeared to be going in service and returning. Ladder 4 decided to proceed to the scene to get a clear idea of the situation. On arrival, the Myrtle Beach unit on scene was pulling an 1 ¾ attack line to a first floor unit. Ladder 4 officer established command and ordered all Horry County units to the scene, seeing as there was smoke showing from division Alpha. Ladder 4 positioned in the front of the building and laddered the roof. Engine 4 proceeded and established a water supply. Ladder 4 crew went to the second floor and began overhaul to search for the fire. Engine 4 hooked a humat valve to the hydrant and charged the 5 inch, supplying Engine 621. Fire was found running up the exterior wall into the roof of the structure. Ladder 4 crew requested an 1 ¾ line to the second floor. While waiting on the handline, the crew continued with salvage and overhaul, utilizing the water can. Engine 45 crew placed a handline in service by extinguishing some hot spots on the rear of the structure. The scene was placed under control. Ladder 4 officer had Masters command.

Ladder 4 second due to working fire in the 1 box.

At 11:05 units were alerted for a structure fire in the St. Charles section of the Stonebridge subdivision. Battalion 22 arrived on scene of a single story residential structure well involved with two exposures about to ignite. Engine 1 arrived and established a water supply and placed hand-lines in service to protect exposures. Ladder 4 arrived and set up the aerial, but was not placed in service. Ladder 4 officer had Division 1. Engine 20, Ladder 39, and Engine 39 arrived and once the fire was under control, assisted in intense overhaul and preservation of the fire scene for the investigation team. Rescue 1 driver rescued 1 cat from the fire. Units were on scene for about 3 ½ hours.

FORESTBROOK UNITS MAKE RESCUE AT WORKING FIRE IN 45 BOX

At 09:33, units were alerted of a structure fire on Old Bryan Dr. in Myrtle Beach. Station 4 responded with the Ladder and Engine. While en route, dispatch advised the incoming units that the caller stated smoke showing. Medic 30 arrived on scene of a 2-story multifamily dwelling with smoke showing from the first floor windows. Myrtle Beach Fire arrived with an engine and truck… Engine 45 arrived and established a water supply with the assistance of an off duty Forestbrook Firefighter. Ladder 4 and Engine 4 arrived and received a report of possible entrapment by Myrtle Beach firefighters on scene. While conducting a search, Engine 4 volunteer officer Kyle Fannin, with the assistance of Ladder 4 career firefighter Mitch Hanna, found one victim in the bedroom and made the rescue. Engine 45 volunteers pulled a 1 ¾ attack line and extinguished a small fire in the kitchen. Rescue 1 and Engine 1 arrived and conducted a secondary search. Engine 4 driver assisted in mechanical ventilation. Units were on scene for about an hour. The patient was transported to a local ER by Medic 30 and was reported to be in stable condition. Ladder 4 officer had Old Bryan Command. Great job by the Horry County units on scene!

FORESTBROOK RESPONDS TO HOUSE FIRE IN FIRST DUE

At 19:14, units were alerted of a structure fire on Long Line Lane. Ladder 4 and Engine 4 responded. While en route, dispatched advised of a fire in the laundry room. Ladder 4 arrived on scene of a single story residential structure with smoke showing from the rear. Engine 4 established a water supply while the crew from Ladder 4 pulled an 1 ¾ handline and made an interior attack. Socastee Rescue 1 and Engine 1 arrived and provided an interior search. Ladder 39 arrived and assisted Engine 4 with vertical ventilation. Units were on scene for about 2 hours. Ladder 39 officer had Long Line command. Ladder 4 officer had Operations.
